United States Federal Census

United States Federal Census The U.S. Federal Census is an exceptional tool for family historians! Through the Census, we have access to more than 150 years of detailed family information, with new installments released for public inspection every ten years. Since the information given as part of every U.S. Census is held confidential for 72 years, the most recent census currently available for research is the 1930 Census.

In April 2012, we will once again flock to our regional National Archives locations to inspect the 1940 Census schedules containing clues about our respective families. The table below is a brief overview of the U.S. Federal Census. Click on any year to access a detail summary specific to that year.
